Meet the Innkeepers
Warren and Diane Poehler |
Warren Poehler
originally from Medford, Massachusetts,
started out as an Army Officer and is a Vietnam Veteran after his graduation
from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. He was for 17 years a Project and Field
Engineer in the Oil and Energy Industry for the Ralph M. Parsons Company and
Bechtel Construction; and more recently a mathematics middle school teacher and
school principal. He recently retired from teaching after 18 years in the
classroom. As Diane's helper (co-innkeeper and bookkeeper) he does most of what
he is told with remodeling projects around the inn. He prepares
outstanding omelets and Belgian waffles.
Diane Poehler
originally from Arlington, Virginia, is a graduate of Radford College and taught
for many years primarily as a 2nd grade teacher with many other additional roles
through her career. The guiding light behind the inn's success, she has
been the innkeeper since 1998. She is behind the eclectic and thematic
appointing of the house and rooms, and is the artistic director behind Warren's
remodeling. Diane has been the proud mother of two children, now grown, and is
the grandmother of two lovely girls who now live in New Zealand with our son and
daughter-in-law. She spent a good deal of her time being wife, mom and
center of the family as we traveled through the
US, Far East, Middle East, Europe, the Mediterranean, and South Pacific. If you want to
know what any place in the world is like, she will describe it to you, show you
an artifact, and compare notes about your travels. Diane specializes in
"the best blueberry pancakes in the world", eggs benedict, and a myriad of
freshly-baked muffins. We enjoy frequent travel, particularly "down-under"
to visit our children and grandchildren.
